Rahul Banerjee: Fascinating paper about time of day affecting CAR T-cell function
Rahul Banerjee, EASE (ECE Advocacy for Student Engagement) Director of Communications at Duke University Pratt School of Engineering, shared on X about a recent paper by Chen Wang et al. titled “Circadian tumor infiltration and function of CD8+ T cells dictate immunotherapy efficacy” published in Cell.
Authors: Chen Wang, Qun Zeng, Zeynep Melis Gül, Federico Simonetta, Mikaël Pittet, Christoph Scheiermann et al.
“A shockingly fascinating paper in Cell about time of day affecting CAR T-cell function. ZT13 is evening, ZT1 morning in 2nd screenshot. Obviously more studies needed, including human studies – but is this why about CRS often come at 11 pm?
And to be clear, I don’t think the second part is necessarily true since there’s a time lag between CAR T-cell activation and systemic cytokine release to lead to a fever… but fascinating food for thought!”
