The European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) Educational Grants 2026 support young surgical oncologists who wish to visit a specialized institution abroad, gain additional clinical experience, and learn new surgical oncology techniques.
ESSO will award two grants of €1,500 and two grants of €2,000 for applicants from low- and middle-income countries. Applicants must be ESSO members and undertake their training visit in a country other than the one in which they currently work. The application deadline is October 31, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be ESSO members at the time of application.
- Candidates must have completed full surgical training in their country of origin.
- Candidates must undertake their visit at an institution outside their current country.
- European applicants may visit either a European or non-European institution.
- Applicants visiting a Breast, Peritoneal Surface Malignancy (PSM), or Sarcoma Unit must select a host institution from the ESSO Referral Centres.
- For other surgical oncology specialties, applicants may select an appropriate host institution freely.
- Only one application per candidate per year is permitted.
- Selected applicants must begin the training period within one year of notification.
Funding Details
- Two grants of €1,500 each are available to support eligible surgical oncology trainees.
- Two grants of €2,000 each are available to trainees coming from low- and middle-income countries.

- Results communicated: By December 24, 2026.
