The EACR–Mark Foundation–Pezcoller Foundation Rising Star Award 2027 supports promising cancer researchers with high-potential projects that were positively evaluated but not funded through the 2026 ERC Starting Grant competition.
The award aims to provide bridge funding for outstanding early-career investigators to advance pioneering cancer research projects while preparing for future ERC resubmission.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be current members of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR).
- Applicants must have an unfunded Score ‘A’ cancer-related project from the 2026 ERC Starting Grant call.
- The ERC Score ‘A’ project must have fully met the ERC excellence criterion and been recommended for funding if sufficient funds wer available.
- Applicants must provide confirmation of their unfunded ERC project status.
- Applicants must submit the required application documents, including CV and ERC application materials.
Funding Details
- Funding: Up to €100,000
- Additional support: 10% institutional overheads added to the award amount
