American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowships
Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) support new investigators in research training programs to position them for independent careers in cancer research. Peer reviewers evaluate how well the fellowship will broaden the applicant’s research training and experience.
Eligibility
- Work at a US academic institution or eligible non-profit
- Are a US citizen or a non-citizen with an appropriate visa at the time of application
- Have held your doctoral degree for less than 4 years (clinical-only training time not counted)
- Do not hold a faculty appointment (e.g., Instructor, Research Assistant Professor)

Grant Term and Budget
- Awards are for up to 3 years
- Stipends: 66,000 USD (Year 1), 68,000 USD (Year 2), 70,000 USD (Year 3)
- Fellowship Allowance: 4,000 USD/year for health insurance, workshop costs, and meeting expenses
- Final Year Bonus: Additional 1,500 USD for attending the ACS Postdoctoral Fellows Symposium or a domestic meeting
- Top-ranked fellowships may be supplemented above standard stipends based on endowment availability
Parental Leave Option
- PFs may take 4–12 weeks of paid maternity/paternity leave annually
- Grant term is extended by the length of leave
- Stipend continues during leave and extended period
