The Cancer Research Institute – CRI Immuno-Informatics Postdoctoral Fellowship supports outstanding early-career scientists seeking combined expertise in cancer immunology and data science.
The three-year fellowship is designed for computational researchers who want deeper training in immunology, cancer immunologists seeking expertise in computational biology, genomics, or data science, and researchers from other doctoral backgrounds pursuing work at the intersection of immunology and computation.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must hold a doctoral degree by the date the fellowship is activated.
- Applicants must conduct the proposed research under a sponsor holding a formal appointment at the level of Assistant Professor or higher.
- Applicants must work in an area directly related to immunology or cancer immunology.
- MD applicants should not include residency years when calculating mentored research experience.
- The fellowship may be conducted in the United States or internationally.
- There are no citizenship restrictions.
- Faculty sponsors may not supervise more than three CRI-supported fellows at one time.
Funding Details:
- The fellowship provides three years of support.
- Year 1 stipend: USD 74,000.
- Year 2 stipend: USD 76,000.
- Year 3 stipend: USD 78,000.

- Next application deadline: March 1, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
- Applications are accepted annually on March 1 and September 1.
- Awards begin on the first day of a month.
Further Information:
- Projects must be hypothesis-driven and focused on basic or translational cancer immunology, with innovative computational methods, genomic technologies, high-throughput omics, or advanced data analysis.
- Required materials include applicant and sponsor biosketches, research and training statements, specific aims, a four-page proposal, sponsor and co-sponsor letters, and two recommendation letters.
- One recommendation must normally come from the applicant’s thesis advisor, while the second must come from another person familiar with the applicant’s research; the sponsor cannot provide either recommendation.
- The application is not complete until all required institutional signatories have signed through DocuSign, and applications exceeding page limits or missing required materials will not be considered.
