Harvard Cancer Center Neuro-Oncology SPORE — Career Enhancement Program Award

The HCC Neuro-Oncology SPORE Career Enhancement Program supports early-career investigators conducting research on adult or pediatric gliomas. Funded through the NCI SPORE mechanism, the CEP provides seed funding plus departmental matching to launch glioma-focused research careers at Harvard-affiliated institutions.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:

  • Hold an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree
  • Be in the final year of a clinical or postdoctoral fellowship OR within 5 years of their first faculty appointment at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor
  • Propose research focused on adult or pediatric gliomas
  • Obtain a letter from their department chair agreeing to provide $25,000 in matching funds (direct + institutional indirect)
  • Have a qualified mentor and submit a mentor letter of support

Funding Details:

  • Award amount: $25,000 (total) from the SPORE grant + $25,000 (direct) from the applicant’s department = $50,000 total support
  • Duration: 1 year (September 1, 2026 – August 1, 2027)
  • Use of funds: Salary and/or research support at Harvard Medical School or Harvard-affiliated institutions
  • Number of awards: 2
