
NCI: Worta McCaskill-Stevens Career Development Award for Community Oncology and Prevention Research
The Worta McCaskill-Stevens Career Development Award for Community Oncology and Prevention Research supports the training of clinician-scientists in community-based cancer prevention, screening, intervention, control, and treatment research. Emphasis is placed on enhancing the careers of researchers aiming to improve care and trial participation among minority health populations and communities with health disparities. Up to 5 years of renewable support is available.
Eligibility Criteria

Principal Investigators (PIs): Must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents; associate or full professors with active R01 or equivalent cancer-focused grant support.

Mentors: Must have independent R01 or R01-equivalent cancer-related research support.

Scholars:

Must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Must hold an M.D., D.O., Pharm.D., DNP, Ph.D., or equivalent.

Must not be in residency.

Must commit a minimum of 75% full-time professional effort (50% permitted for surgeon-scientists with justification).

Funding Details

Program Budget: Up to $750,000/year in direct costs.

Year 1 capped at $50,000 for planning and recruitment.

F&A/Indirect Costs: 8%

Scholar Support:

Salary: Up to $110,000/year + fringe

Research Development Support: Up to $30,000/year
