The NCI Office of Data Sharing Impact Prize invites researchers, organizations, and innovators to develop practical ideas and strategies that can improve the broad, rapid, and equitable sharing of cancer research outputs.

The competition is designed to address barriers that prevent cancer research findings, data, tools, and other research outputs from reaching the communities and researchers who can use them. The total prize purse is $200,000, distributed across three competition tracks.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible participants must meet the challenge’s requirements for submitting an entry.
  • Individuals and teams may participate through the challenge platform.
  • Organizations and institutions involved in cancer research are encouraged to participate.
  • Proposals should address cancer research data sharing or the broader dissemination and reuse of NCI-funded research outputs.
  • Submissions must correspond to one of the three designated competition tracks.
  • Participants must comply with the official challenge rules and submission requirements.
  • Federal employees and entities may be subject to additional restrictions under the challenge rules.

Funding Details

  • Total Prize Purse: $200,000
  • Number of Tracks: 3
  • Each track has an initial allocation of $60,000.
  • Each track includes one Tier 1 prize of $15,000.
  • Each track includes two Tier 2 prizes of $12,500.
  • Each track includes two Tier 3 prizes of $10,000.

  • Submission Deadline: October 19, 2026
  • Judging: October 20 – November 15, 2026
  • Expected Winners Announced: Mid-November 2026.
