The Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) Giant Food NextGen Award
The Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) Giant Food NextGen Award supports early-career pediatric oncology investigators in the Maryland/DC/Northern Virginia region. Designed to fund promising researchers at the beginning of their independent careers, this grant helps launch impactful research focused on improving pediatric cancer treatment and outcomes. The award is made possible through the generous support of Giant Food.
Eligibility Criteria
- MD, PhD, DO, MBBS, MSN-NP or equivalent degree
- Completed Pediatric Oncology Fellowship or equivalent training
- No more than 6 years post highest degree and 3 years post fellowship
- Must not hold a rank higher than Assistant Professor
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (or valid I-551 status)
- Must be employed by a U.S. institution throughout the award period
- Must commit at least 50% effort to the CCF-funded research
Funding Details
- Total Award: 100,000 USD for one year
- Direct costs only — allowable expenses include salary, supplies, and equipment (≤ 5,000 USD)
- Indirect costs such as travel, admin fees, memberships, parking, or advertising are not allowed
Key Deadlines
- Proposal Submission Deadline: May 4, 2025 by 11:59 PM EST
- Notification of Award: August 2025
- Award Period: December 2025 – December 2026
- Grant Check Presentation: November 1, 2025 at the CCF Gala (Greenbelt, MD)
Award Obligations
- Submit a 2–3 page report within 90 days of grant end
- Attend the 2025 CCF Gala (Nov 1, 2025)
- Participate in the 10th Annual CCF Research Symposium (June 2026)
- Acknowledge CCF funding in all publications and presentations
