
CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship
The CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship supports early-career scientists seeking advanced training in fundamental immunology or cancer immunology at top universities and research centers worldwide. The program is designed to promote hypothesis-driven, mechanistic research that deepens our understanding of the immune system’s role in cancer. Fellowships are awarded based on the quality of the applicant, the proposed research project, and the training environment. The fellowship can be performed in the United States or internationally at non-profit institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must hold a doctoral degree by the date of award activation
- Must be conducting research in immunology or tumor immunology
- Must work under a sponsor with an assistant professor or higher title at a non-profit host institution
- May not have more than 5 years of postdoctoral experience at the time of award activation (excluding medical residency for MDs)
- Cannot have more than 3 years in the sponsor’s lab by the start date, unless under exceptional circumstances
- Only one fellow per sponsor per application round
- No more than three CRI-supported fellows per faculty sponsor at any time
- Resubmissions are allowed with revised content reflecting progress
- No citizenship restrictions
Funding Details
- Year 1: 74,000 USD stipend
- Year 2: 76,000 USD stipend
- Year 3: 78,000 USD stipend
- Annual 5,000 USD institutional allowance for research expenses, insurance, travel, or childcare
- Additional support to attend CRI’s annual CICON and Bioinformatics Bootcamp
- No overhead or administrative deductions allowed
Application Deadlines
- March 1 and September 1 (or the following Monday if on a weekend)
- Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time
- Award decisions are announced approximately 10–12 weeks after the deadline
- Fellowships may be activated 4–12 months after the deadline on the first of the month
