The CRI Clinic and Laboratory Integration Program (CLIP) supports innovative research at the intersection of laboratory discovery and clinical application in cancer immunology and immunotherapy.
Projects should establish a clear connection between laboratory research and patient benefit, including work on treatment response and resistance, biomarker discovery, therapeutic development, or models that improve the testing and delivery of cancer immunotherapies. (Cancer Research Institute)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must hold a faculty appointment at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor or higher by the time the award begins.
- Applicants who do not yet hold an eligible appointment may apply if their institution provides documentation with the Letter of Intent confirming that they will hold an Assistant Professor or higher position by award activation.
- There are no citizenship restrictions.
- Research at for-profit institutions is not eligible for CRI funding.
- Relevant areas include therapeutic development, biomarkers, prediction of immunotherapy response, mechanisms of resistance, and improved preclinical or translational models.
- The application process consists of a Letter of Intent followed by an invited full proposal.
Funding Details:
- Initial award: USD 300,000 over two years.
- During the second year, investigators demonstrating exceptional progress may apply for an additional USD 300,000 over two years.
- Projects receiving both rounds of support could therefore receive up to USD 600,000 over four years.
- The additional funding is competitive and is not guaranteed as part of the initial award.
- Institutions may receive indirect costs of up to 10% of the amount awarded.
Deadline:
- Letter of Intent deadline: December 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
- Invitation decisions: By the end of January 2027.
- Invited full proposal deadline: March 12, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
- Earliest award activation: July 1, 2027.

- CLIP supports bidirectional translational research connecting basic immunological discoveries with clinical problems and observations from cancer patients.
- CRI also offers a special opportunity with the Chordoma Foundation for projects focused on developing effective treatments for chordoma; successful projects in this area are co-funded by the two organizations.
- LOI materials include a research concept of up to three pages, a brief description of current research, a curriculum vitae, and a bibliography limited to the previous five years or publications relevant to the proposed work.
