Cancer Research KI Blue Sky Grant for Innovative Cancer Research and Technology 2026

Cancer Research KI Blue Sky Grant for Innovative Cancer Research and Technology 2026

Due Date: 09/14/2026

Cancer Research KI invites applications for the Blue Sky Grant for Innovative Cancer Research & Technology 2026, a one-year funding opportunity for innovative pilot projects across all areas of cancer research. The program is specifically designed for exploratory and curiosity-driven ideas that may not yet be ready to attract support from conventional funding agencies.

Projects should aim to demonstrate proof-of-principle or feasibility during the award period and generate preliminary data that can support subsequent research development and future funding applications. The proposed work must not simply continue or expand an already funded project, although general thematic alignment with an applicant’s previous research is permitted. (Karolinska Institutet)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The call is open to researchers at Karolinska Institutet (KI), including postdoctoral researchers.
  • Applicants must be within 15 years of obtaining their PhD. Deductible time may be accepted according to applicable rules.
  • Applicants must be employed or affiliated at least 50% at a KI department, or work at least 50% at Karolinska University Hospital while holding an affiliation with a KI department.
  • Researchers who received a Blue Sky Grant in 2025 are not eligible for the 2026 call and should wait one call period before reapplying.
