Susan G. Komen Career Transition Awards (CTA)

Due Date:

Komen CTAs support outstanding postdoctoral and clinical fellows transitioning from mentored training to independent faculty careers in breast cancer research. The award provides up to five years of funding across two phases: Phase 1 supports the final years of mentored postdoctoral training, and Phase 2 supports independent research in a tenure-track position. This is a limited submission opportunity — one nominee per institution.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:

  • Hold a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, DrPH, DO, or equivalent)
  • Be a postdoctoral or clinical fellow at the time of application
  • Have completed at least 2 years of postdoctoral training by the start of the award
  • Be nominated by their institution (no self-nominations)

Funding Details:

  • Up to $650,000 over 5 years
  • Phase 1: up to $100,000/year for up to 2 years (direct costs only)
  • Phase 2: up to $150,000/year for up to 3 years (direct + indirect costs)

Deadline:

  • Institution opt-in: anticipated June 2026
  • LOI due: anticipated late July 2026
  • Full application (by invitation): anticipated October 2026
  • Award notification: approximately April 2027
