Harvard Cancer Center Neuro-Oncology SPORE — Developmental Research Project Award

The HCC Neuro-Oncology SPORE Developmental Research Program funds translational research projects in adult or pediatric gliomas with the goal of upgrading successful projects to full SPORE project status. Unlike the CEP (entry #2), the DRP targets established faculty and emphasizes bench-to-bedside or bedside-to-bench translational strategies.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:

  • Be a faculty member at Harvard Medical School or Harvard School of Public Health at the rank of Instructor or higher
  • Propose research focused on adult or pediatric gliomas with a clear translational (bench-to-bedside or bedside-to-bench) strategy
  • Obtain a letter from their department chair agreeing to provide $25,000 in matching funds (direct + institutional indirect)
  • Submit a Research Plan (≤3 pages) with Specific Aims, Background and Relevance to Gliomas, Preliminary Data, and Methods

Funding Details:

  • Award amount: $25,000 (total) from the SPORE grant + $25,000 (direct) from the applicant’s department = $50,000 total support
  • Duration: 1 year (September 1, 2026 – August 1, 2027)
  • Number of awards: 2
  • Indirect costs: Institutional/nonfederal indirect on the departmental match only

  • Award notification: July 15, 2026; funding start: September 1, 2026
