The AGA-Torrey Coast Foundation Fellowship-to-Faculty Transition Award in Upper GI Cancer 2026 supports clinical and postdoctoral fellows conducting clinical or translational research in gastroesophageal cancer as they prepare to transition toward independent academic research careers.

The award provides $130,000 over two years, with $65,000 available annually, and is intended to protect substantial research time while fellows generate preliminary data, strengthen their research experience, and prepare for faculty-level independence. Eligibility Criteria

  • Hold an MD, PhD, and/or equivalent degree, such as MBBS, MBChB, or DO.
  • Hold a clinical or postdoctoral fellow position at an institution in North America: the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
  • Conduct research relevant to upper gastrointestinal or gastroesophageal cancer.
  • Be an AGA member at the time of application and maintain membership throughout the two-year award.
  • Clinical fellows must either be in the final year of fellowship training at the time of application
  • Postdoctoral applicants must have completed at least four years but fewer than six years of postdoctoral research at the time of application.
