The Hope Leaders program funds two-year, community-engaged collaborations between community organizations and Cancer Center scientists. The goal is to let community partners communicate health needs directly to researchers, while enabling scientists to engage community organizations on projects intended to benefit local populations—particularly through work aligned with the Cancer Center’s Cancer Biology and Translational Oncology Research Programs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Community track: Community organizations/partners (application details and eligibility requirements are provided in the community partner application materials).
  • Scientist track: Cancer Center scientists (encouraged from Cancer Biology and Translational Oncology Research
  • Programs; eligibility details provided in the scientist application materials).
  • Applicants are encouraged to attend the informational webinars (separate sessions for scientists and community members).

Funding Details:

  • Duration: 2 years (Year 2 funding is contingent on study progress).
  • Community partner funding: $20,000 total ($10,000 in Year 1; $10,000 in Year 2 contingent on progress).
  • Scientist funding: $30,000 total ($20,000 in Year 1; $10,000 in Year 2 contingent on progress).
  • Informational webinars:
    • Scientists: January 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. (Zoom registration required via link on the page).
    • Community members: January 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. (Zoom registration required via link on the page).
