A two-year, binational grant to tackle gastric and esophageal cancers through US–Asia collaboration. This American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) program supports joint research teams focusing on treatment resistance, metastasis, novel therapeutic targets, and immunotherapies in upper gastrointestinal cancers. By bridging expertise across the Pacific, the grant aims to accelerate discoveries for these challenging cancers.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Research team must include at least two co-Principal Investigators, one based at a US institution and one at an Asia-based institution.
- Investigators should have demonstrable expertise in gastric and/or esophageal cancer research.
- Proposal must address key problems in gastric or esophageal cancer (e.g. drug resistance, metastatic mechanisms, innovative treatments, new target identification).
- AACR membership is required by full application stage for the lead PI (nonmembers may apply for membership at LOI stage).
Funding Details:
- Grant Amount: USD 400,000 over 2 years.
- Use of Funds: Supports collaborative research activities including personnel, supplies, and project travel. Emphasis on data sharing and cross-institutional experimentation.
- Institutional Support: Indirect costs are generally not allowed; funds go directly to research expenses. Both institutions should provide supporting infrastructure.
