UICC Implementation Research Grants in Cancer Prevention

A second-round grant program to advance the uptake of proven cancer prevention strategies across Europe. This initiative funds collaborative projects (2–4 groups) implementing evidence-based interventions aligned with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. Priority is on primary prevention, translating knowledge into policy and practice across health systems.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Teams of 2–4 principal investigators from eligible European or associated countries. At least one institution must be in Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, or the UK.
  • Investigators must be based at nonprofit or academic institutions; cross-country collaborations required.
  • Projects must focus on primary (preferred) or secondary cancer prevention, aiming for implementable outcomes.
  • Each PI must have capacity to lead an implementation study and institutional support.

 Funding Details:

  • Award: Up to EUR 500,000 per project for up to 2 years.
  • Scope: Supports personnel, intervention deployment, evaluation, and related research costs (ethics approvals required before start).
  • Total Program Budget: ~EUR 1.3 million across all grants (expanded by new partners in 2025).
  • Indirect Costs: Generally not provided; funds focus on direct implementation activities.

Deadline:

  • Application deadline: February 16, 2026 (call open mid-Nov 2025 to mid-Feb 2026).
  • Awards announced mid-2026; projects to start by late 2026.
