The Breast Cancer Research Foundation-AACR Career Development Awards support early-career investigators conducting innovative research that advances the understanding, prevention, and treatment of breast cancer. Each two-year grant provides USD 150,000 to fund impactful projects across basic, translational, clinical, and population health research that have direct applicability to improving patient outcomes.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent) in a related field.

  • Must not be a current candidate for another doctoral or professional degree.

  • Must hold a faculty position (assistant professor, instructor, research assistant professor, or equivalent) by July 1, 2026.

  • Future positions must be confirmed and not contingent on receiving the grant.

  • Must have started the first independent faculty position on or after July 1, 2020.

  • Must have independent laboratory space confirmed by their institution.

  • Must be employed at an academic, medical, or research institution worldwide.

  • No citizenship or geographic restrictions, but applicants must have a visa allowing completion of the project.

  • Must be an Active AACR member in good standing or apply by the Letter of Intent (LOI) deadline.

Funding Details:

  • Total Amount: USD 150,000 (over 2 years).

  • Start Date: July 1, 2026.

  • Eligible Costs: Salary and benefits, postdoctoral or clinical fellows, research assistants, equipment, laboratory supplies, and publication costs.

Deadline:

  • Letter of Intent (LOI) Deadline: December 16, 2025 (1:00 PM ET).

  • LOI Notification: February 2026.

  • Full Application Deadline: April 7, 2026 (1:00 PM ET).

  • Decision Date: June 2026.
