AACR NextGen Grant for Transformative Cancer Research

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF)–AACR NextGen Grant for Transformative Cancer Research in honor of Nancy E. Davidson, MD supports innovative, paradigm-shifting cancer research by early-career investigators. The grant aims to foster scientific independence and accelerate progress in breast cancer prevention, detection, and treatment through high-impact, creative research.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must hold a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor appointment (or equivalent) by July 1, 2026.

  • Appointments such as research assistant professor, adjunct assistant professor, assistant professor research track, visiting professor, or instructor are not eligible.

  • Must have held a tenure-eligible appointment for no more than three years (not before July 1, 2023).

  • Must be employed at an academic, medical, or research institution anywhere in the world.

  • No citizenship or geographic restrictions, but visa status must allow completion of the grant term.

  • Must be an Active AACR member in good standing by the Letter of Intent deadline. Nonmembers must apply for membership and obtain a nominator who is an active AACR member.

Funding Details:

  • Total funding: 450,000 USD.

  • Grant term: 3 years (starting July 1, 2026).

  • Funds may support salary and benefits of the PI, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, research assistants, equipment, supplies, travel, and publication costs.

  • Indirect costs are permitted.

Deadline:

  • Letter of Intent Deadline: December 18, 2025 (1:00 PM ET).
  • Letter of Intent Notification: February 2026.

  • Application Deadline: April 7, 2026 (1:00 PM ET).

  • Decision Date: June 2026.

  • Start of Grant Term: July 1, 2026.
