One-year, mentored award for early-career physician-investigators focused on invasive lobular breast cancer (ILC). Supports the transition from fellowship/training to a faculty appointment; proposals may be preclinical, clinical, epidemiologic, outcomes, behavioral, quality-of-care, or health-services research with measurable one-year aims.
Eligibility Criteria:

Physician (MD, DO, or international equivalent) working in the United States; MD/PhD eligible if both degrees are completed before the start date.

In the last two years of final oncology subspecialty training at application; limited exceptions (e.g., protected research year outside final two years; recent graduates within three months of the deadline).

Within 10 years of medical degree at submission (exception possible for foreign medical graduates).

Planning an investigative oncology career; valid, active medical license in the country of research; working in an oncology lab or clinical research setting.

At least one mentor at the sponsoring institution; ASCO membership (or membership application submitted).

Able to commit ≥60% total effort to research during the award period.

Only institutions in the United States are eligible hosts; no citizenship requirement (visa must permit completion of the term). Prior or current recipients of the Conquer Cancer–AACR Translational YIA are ineligible.
Funding:

Total: USD 50,000 for one year, paid in two equal installments; one ILC YIA will be awarded.

Budget guidance: at least USD 46,000 to direct research costs; up to USD 1,500 for essential travel (including the Conquer Cancer Grants & Awards Ceremony during the ASCO Annual Meeting); up to USD 2,500 (5%) indirect costs; salary subject to NIH limits.
