LLS’s Career Development Program funds salaries for postdocs, instructors, and early-career independent investigators advancing basic, clinical, and translational research on hematologic malignancies and relevant premalignant conditions. Note: The current submission period is closed.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Research must be directly relevant to blood cancers or premalignant conditions.

  • Scholar: Independent, tenure-track faculty; substantial national research support; project now reviewed as a research program. Full Professors at award start are ineligible.

  • Scholar in Clinical Research: Independent faculty leading patient-involving clinical studies (often early trials); lab-only/model-system focused applicants should apply to Scholar instead; Full Professors at award start are ineligible.

  • Special Fellow: 3–5 years postdoctoral research training by award start; mentored position; minimum salary to awardee 70,000 USD/year.

  • Fellow: <3 years postdoctoral research training by award start; mentored position; minimum salary to awardee 65,000 USD/year.

  • Mentorship updates: Relaxed funding requirement for Sponsors with <5 years’ experience (Fellow/Special Fellow). Up to two Fellow and two Special Fellow applications per Sponsor per cycle; max four total Fellows/Special Fellows in a lab as of award start.

Funding Details:

  • Scholar: 120,000 USD/year for 5 years.

  • Scholar in Clinical Research: 125,000 USD/year for 5 years.

  • Special Fellow: 75,000 USD/year for 2–3 years (≥70,000 USD/year must go to awardee).

  • Fellow: 70,000 USD/year for 3 years (≥65,000 USD/year must go to awardee).

  • Fellow/Special Fellow childcare stipend: up to 3,600 USD/year.
