The Susan G. Komen Career Transition Awards accelerate the launch of independent, breast cancer–focused research careers for outstanding postdoctoral and clinical fellows. This two-phase mechanism funds the final mentored years and the early tenure-track period, supporting hypothesis-driven basic, translational, clinical, and population studies aligned with Komen’s mission to save lives from breast cancer.
Eligibility Criteria:

Final years of mentored postdoctoral (or clinical fellow) training with ≤5 years total postdoctoral experience at LOI submission (July 24, 2025).

Breast cancer–focused, hypothesis-driven project (basic, translational, clinical, and/or population science).

Limited submission: one nominee per institution; applicants cannot self-nominate.

Institutional nominee must be selected by the Office of Sponsored Programs/Grants Office (or equivalent).
Funding Details:

Total: Up to 650,000 USD over a maximum of 5 years (two phases).

Phase 1 (mentored): Up to 100,000 USD per year (direct costs only) for up to 2 years.

Phase 2 (independent): Up to 150,000 USD per year (direct + indirect costs) for up to 3 years.
