3–5 years of mentored support for advanced U.S. postdocs or junior faculty to lead an independent clinical trial in a low- or middle-income country (LMIC).
Eligibility criteria:
- 
U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or U.S. permanent resident, ≥2 years post-doctorate.
 - 
Applicant organization is a U.S. higher education institution; foreign organizations are not eligible.
 - 
Primary U.S. mentor at applicant institution and primary LMIC mentor required.
 - 
Commit ≥75% effort (9 person-months) to the award.
 - 
In-country requirement: ≥50% cumulative effort over the project period in the LMIC and ≥3 months in the LMIC each year.
 - 
Must propose an independent clinical trial (or feasibility/ancillary trial) led by the applicant.
 
Funding details:
- 
Salary support up to $100,000 per year plus fringe.
 - 
Research development support up to $40,000 per year.
 - 
Indirect costs at 8% of modified total direct costs.
 - 
Project period 3–5 years.
