3–5 years of mentored support for LMIC junior faculty to become independent researchers addressing local health priorities (no independent clinical trials).
Eligibility criteria:
- 
LMIC academic or research institution applicant per World Bank and FIC country rules.
 - 
PD/PI is an LMIC citizen/permanent resident with a primary LMIC appointment.
 - 
Junior faculty/research scientist for ≥1 year; ≥master’s with thesis (doctoral preferred).
 - 
Commit ≥75% effort (9 person-months).
 - 
Not eligible if U.S.-based/U.S. citizen or holder of major independent awards (e.g., R01, K99/R00).
 - 
Two primary mentors required: one LMIC-based and one U.S.-based.
 
Funding details:
- 
Salary up to $100,000/year plus fringe for ≥75% effort.
 - 
Research development support up to $40,000/year.
 - 
Indirect costs at 8% of MTDC.
 - 
Project period of 3–5 years.
 - 
Clinical trials not allowed; mentored trial experience permitted.
 
Deadline:
