
AST Research Network — Early Faculty Development Research Grant
One-year career development grant (USD 75,000) for early faculty (within 5 years of first faculty appointment) conducting basic, translational, or clinical research in solid organ transplantation/immunology. Research must start July 1, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria:

MD/PhD/PharmD (or equivalent) with faculty appointment by July 1, 2026; within 5 years of initial faculty appointment (case-by-case extensions possible).

Active AST member (or membership application submitted by Dec 1, 2025) and research performed in North America; citizenship/permanent residency requirements apply (U.S./Canada/Mexico).

Protected time: ≥50% (basic/translational) or ≥25% (clinical).

Not eligible if PI on prior/current independent awards (e.g., NIH R01, P01 project, R21, VA Merit) or if holding concurrent K-series/R00/career development awards at application.

No scientific overlap with other AST grants from the same group; distinct from concurrent awards.
Funding Details:

USD 75,000 for 1 year; paid to the institution.

Allowable: recipient salary, project personnel, research costs.

Not allowed: institutional overhead/indirects, capital equipment, travel.

IRB/visa (if applicable) required before funds release.
