
AGA–Caroline Craig Augustyn & Damian Augustyn Award in Digestive Cancer
Supplemental funding for early-career investigators with an existing career development award to advance research in the pathogenesis, prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of digestive cancer. One award, USD 40,000 for 1 year.
Eligibility Criteria:

MD/PhD (or equivalent) with full-time faculty (or equivalent) appointment at a North American institution.

Must hold a federal or non-federal career development award (e.g., NIH K01/K08/K23/K99/R00) of ≥4 years’ duration, with ≥1 year remaining on April 1, 2026.

No R01 (or equivalent, e.g., VA Merit).

Early-career: ≤7 years since GI fellowship (MD) or since PhD conferral (PhD) as of April 2026.

AGA membership at submission; any research type relevant to digestive cancer.
Funding Details:

USD 40,000 total (1 year).

Allowable: non-faculty personnel salary/benefits, biostatistics support, supplies/animals/equipment (equipment typically ≤ USD 10,000 unless documented as shared).

Not allowed: PI or mentor salary/benefits, indirect costs, travel.

Must build on (or extend from) the existing career development award without duplicating its aims.
