
CPRIT Recruitment of First-Time, Tenure-Track Faculty Members
CPRIT funds Texas institutions to recruit outstanding early-career cancer researchers into their first tenure-track assistant professor roles. Applications are accepted from June 23, 2025 through June 22, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant must be a Texas-based not-for-profit research institution.

Nomination by an institutional leader is required.

PI must hold a doctoral degree at submission, commit at least 70% effort to research, and at submission must not hold any assistant professor or higher appointment, including non-tenure-track.

PI must not have accepted a tenure-track position at the recruiting institution before the Scientific Review Council meets.

No co-investigators. Collaborators may be outside Texas but cannot receive CPRIT funds.

Standard CPRIT eligibility and conflict-of-interest rules apply.
Funding Details:

Up to USD 2,000,000 total costs over 5 years; non-renewable.

Indirect costs capped at 5% of the total award.

Funds support the PI’s research program; PI salary and construction or renovation are not allowed.

Matching funds equal to one-half of the CPRIT funding must be demonstrated at contract execution and annually.
