
CPRIT Core Facility Support Awards – Competitive Renewal
Competitive renewals to enhance or expand Texas core facilities (laboratory, clinical, population-based, or computational) that directly support cancer research. Limited to one application per institution; single-PI only. Preference for facilities serving multiple Texas institutions, especially TREC-eligible sites.
Eligibility Criteria:

PI must be the facility director with a doctoral degree, Texas residency during the award, faculty appointment (preferably associate/full professor), and minimum 10% effort; multi-PIs not allowed.

Collaborations are encouraged; non-Texas collaborators may not receive CPRIT funds and equipment may not leave Texas.

One renewal application per institution in this cycle (special exception: a second submission allowed if the additional application is solely for childhood/AYA cancer or population science). Only one component of a university system may apply.

Applicant institutions must comply with CPRIT administrative rules, conflict-of-interest, and other eligibility provisions.
Funding Details:

Up to USD 2,000,000 total for up to 5 years. Indirect costs capped at 5% of total (≈5.263% of direct costs).

Allowable: instruments (must be expended within first 2 years), installation/necessary renovation in year 1 only (≤10% of first-year request), maintenance/service contracts, director/manager/analyst/technical staff salary and fringe, travel, user support for cancer projects, and limited method development.

FY2026 individual salary cap: USD 225,000 (salary excludes fringe and indirects). Equipment ≥ USD 10,000 per unit requires approval.

Matching requirement: before disbursement (and annually), the recipient must demonstrate available funds equal to one-half of the CPRIT award.
