
Sarcoma UK Open Grant Round 2025
Sarcoma UK’s Open Grant Round 2025 provides up to 1.2 million pounds to support world-class laboratory and clinical research projects, and new PhD studentships, aimed at understanding sarcoma biology, improving diagnosis and treatments, and enhancing patients’ quality of life.
Eligibility

Host institution must be a UK-based higher education institution, research institute, or NHS body.

Principal Investigator holds a permanent, salaried position (or fixed-term contract extending at least one year beyond project end); if on fixed-term, a co-applicant with a permanent post must also be named.

Only one resubmission of a previously unsuccessful proposal is permitted (unless you are explicitly invited for a second resubmission).

Proposals must demonstrate a clear pathway to impact for people affected by sarcoma.
Funding Details:

Small grants: up to 75 000 pounds for innovative pilot or follow-on studies.

Large grants: up to 200 000 pounds for substantive research supporting staff costs.

PhD Studentships: up to 150 000 pounds over four years (covers stipend, fees & research expenses).

Total budget: 1 200 000 pounds (additional contributions may come from GIST Cancer UK and the Sarah Burkeman. Trust)

Applicant response to peer & lay review: mid-December 2025 to mid-January 2026.
