
Hirshberg Foundation’s Seed Grant Program
Since 2005, the Hirshberg Foundation’s Seed Grant Program has supported innovative basic and clinical research in pancreatic cancer. Seed grants provide start-up funding for novel ideas in treatment, early diagnosis, biology, prevention, and core facility development—enabling investigators to generate preliminary data for larger awards and foster new collaborations.
Eligibility Criteria

PI must be based at a U.S. academic institution or research organization

Open to research-track and clinical-track faculty, staff scientists, and postdoctoral trainees

Single-PI applications only; multi-PI not allowed

Applicants without independent programs must include a senior mentor with pancreatic cancer expertise
Funding Details

Award amount: $75,000 (direct costs only; no indirect costs)

Duration: 1 year (with optional 1-year no-cost extension)

Mentor salary support not allowed

Additional travel stipend (up to $1,000) available for conference presentations
