
CRUK Research Data Community Demonstration Project Award
The Research Data Community Demonstration Project Award provides up to £200 000 over 18 months to develop, test and embed scalable solutions for common cancer research data challenges—tools, resources or guidance that benefit the entire data-driven research community.
Eligibility Criteria:

Lead applicant: Must be a designated CRUK Research Data Community Lead at a UK university or research hospital, in a permanent or fully-funded role lasting the award’s duration.

Team composition: Co-investigators may be permanent or fully-funded; inclusion of early-career investigators is encouraged.

Host institution: Lead’s institution must endorse the application, manage reporting and comply with CRUK terms.

Collaborations: UK academic/health bodies only; non-UK or commercial partners may participate but cannot directly receive CRUK funds.
Research Scope:
Projects should address community-wide data-science challenges such as:

Improving access, sharing or interoperability of cancer data/samples

Unlocking new datasets for cancer research

Enhancing understanding and diversity of research data
Approaches may include development of:

Tools, templates, standards, position papers or guidance
-
Patient/public involvement frameworks
-
Workshops or collaborative meetings
All proposals must align with CRUK’s Research Data Strategy and include plans to evaluate and embed solutions across the community.
Funding Details:

Award size: Up to 200 000 British Pounds

Duration: Up to 18 months

Project staff (excl. investigators unless CRUK investigator-salary policy applies)

Running expenses and networking (e.g. meeting travel/venue)

Workshop or engagement costs

Excluded: PhD studentships
