
CRUK Pre-doctoral Research Bursary
The Pre-Doctoral Research Bursary offers up to 12 months of funding (up to £25,000) for clinicians, nurses, and other health professionals to gain hands-on research experience, generate preliminary data, and decide on pursuing a PhD or MD. Pathology trainees may request up to £50,000 through our partnership with the Pathological Society.
Eligibility Criteria:

Professional Status:
-
Clinicians, nurses, and health professionals based in the UK.

Academic Stage:
-
No prior completion of a PhD or MD.

Not already holding substantive research fellowship funding (NIHR ACF or equivalent excepted).

Special Funding for Pathology:

Pathology trainees who are members of the Pathological Society may apply for up to £50,000 total.

Funding Details:

Duration: Up to 12 months
-
Quantum:
-
Standard bursary: up to £25,000 (salary and/or research expenses).

Pathology enhancement: up to £50,000 (must be Society member).

Excluded Costs:
-
Masters fees.
-
Support for research contributing directly toward a registered PhD/MD.

Salary for applicants already enrolled in a PhD/MD program.
