
Postdoctoral Research Bursary for Clinical Trainees
The Postdoctoral Research Bursary for Clinical Trainees provides up to £35,000 over two years for clinical trainees who have completed a PhD to undertake a mentored cancer research project (excluding clinical trials and drug discovery).
Eligibility Criteria:

Qualifications: MD or PhD in a cancer-relevant research area

Training Status: Hold a National Training Number (NTN/NTN(A)) at award start

Protected Time: Must have secured dedicated research time and salary commitment from host institution

Prior Fellowships: No previous postdoctoral fellowships held

Host Institution: UK university or research institute; short-term secondments elsewhere must be fully justified
Funding Details:

Amount: Up to £35,000 total

Duration: Up to 2 years

Covers: Research expenses (consumables, core services such as statistics or lab technicians), and travel directly related to the project or collaborations

Excludes: Applicant’s salary, course or examination fees
