
AbbVie Biotech Innovators Award
In collaboration with the University of Toronto’s SpinUp incubator, AbbVie’s Biotech Innovators Award provides one early-stage Canadian biotech with a year of subsidized wet-lab space, core equipment access, entrepreneurship programming, and AbbVie mentorship to accelerate transformational therapies in immunology, oncology, neuroscience, or eye care.
Eligibility Criteria:

Early-stage Canadian biotechnology startups with therapeutic projects in AbbVie’s focus areas.

Companies must propose laboratory-based R&D projects (wet-lab chemistry or biology).

Demonstrated scientific innovation and potential for transformational impact.

Not open to established pharma; designed for startups at proof-of-concept/preclinical stage.
Funding Details:

Lab Space & Equipment: 1 year at SpinUp’s state-of-the-art U of T Mississauga facility, at no cost.

Entrepreneurial Support: Access to SpinUp’s entrepreneurship programming and research community.

Mentorship: Scientific and business guidance from AbbVie executives.
