
National Research Service Awards for Senior Fellows (F33)
The NIH Kirschstein–NRSA Senior Fellows Award (F33) provides up to two years of mentored support for experienced investigators (≥7 years post-PhD) to change their research direction, broaden expertise, or acquire new capabilities in health-related research—often via sabbatical-style training.
Eligibility Criteria

PD/PI Citizenship: U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or permanent resident.

Career Stage: Established investigator with at least seven years of postdoctoral research experience.

Institutional: Eligible U.S. domestic or qualifying foreign institutions; sponsoring lab must be led by an active investigator in the proposed research area.
