Cancer Prevention Fellowship (Harvard T.H. Chan & Dana–Farber/Harvard Cancer Center)

A National Cancer Institute-funded T32 training program that equips pre- and post-doctoral fellows with the interdisciplinary skills—epidemiology, disparities research, implementation science, health communication, and global/population methods—needed to become leaders in cancer prevention and control.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizenship: U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

  • Pre-doctoral: Master’s degree and admission to the PhD in Population Health Sciences at Harvard Chan; indicate interest in the T32 Cancer Prevention & Control program.

  • Post-doctoral: PhD (in behavioral/social sciences, epidemiology, biostatistics, nutrition, nursing, genetics, education, health/social behavior, or related field) or MD; strong interest in cancer prevention/control.

  • Mentorship: Pre-docs work under a primary promoter and advisory committee; post-docs must secure a primary and secondary mentors from Program faculty.

Funding Details

  • Pre-doctoral Fellows:

    • Duration: Up to 4 years.

    • Support: Full tuition plus stipend and research-related funds.

    • Training: 20 units in major field, 10 units each in two minors, core courses (EPI 224 & HPM 548), seminars, and original thesis research.

  • Post-doctoral Fellows:

    • Duration: 2 years.

    • Support: Competitive salary, benefits, and research funds.

    • Training: Mentored research on ongoing projects, advanced coursework as needed, monthly seminar series, and grant-writing workshops (R03/R21/K-series practice).

  • Next Post-doctoral Deadline: November 1, 2026, for the 2027 cohort.
