
EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships
EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships fund internationally mobile postdoctoral researchers—providing two-year (minimum one-year) contracts or stipends to pursue innovative research in a new country, fostering skills development and cross-border collaboration.
Eligibility Criteria:

Hold a doctorate or equivalent obtained within the two years prior to application.

At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal (or preprint with in-depth independent peer reviews).

Mobility requirement: must move to a different country (not country of PhD or previous lab).

Applicants already in host lab <6 months at submission may apply; >6 months or returning to PhD supervisor’s lab are ineligible.

Only one application per round; one reapplication permitted.

Exceptions for major personal circumstances granted case-by-case (contact Fellowship Office before applying).
Funding Details:

Amount: Employment contract via host in EMBC Member State; stipend if hosting outside EMBC.

Duration: 1–2 years (must start within one calendar year of cutoff).

Use of Funds: Salary or stipend; research and training costs; travel and relocation per EMBO policies. See EMBO guidelines for contract rates and policies.
