Wellcome’s PhD Programmes for Health Professionals train registered clinicians and allied health professionals in supportive research environments—building research capability and preparing diverse future leaders in clinical academia through fully funded three-year PhD fellowships.
Eligibility Criteria:

Registered health professional (e.g., nurse, doctor, dentist, pharmacist, allied health, clinical psychologist, healthcare scientist, vet, social worker) with potential for a career in academic health research.

Accepted into one of the Wellcome-supported PhD programmes based at UK centres of excellence (see list below).

Meet individual programme-specific entry requirements (e.g., professional registration, prior degree).
Funding Details:

Duration: 3 years (full-time equivalent; part-time options available)

Amount: Salary at the appropriate UK clinical scale; UK-home-rate PhD fees; college fees; research expenses; essential travel (including childcare or caring costs); training (technical, transferable skills).

Exclusions: Overheads are not funded; international fee differential not covered.
