
Advanced Clinician Scientist Fellowship
Cancer Research UK’s Advanced Clinician Scientist Fellowship develops established clinician scientists—MD/PhD holders with CCT and consultant status—into independent research leaders across all cancer research areas (excluding interventional trials and drug discovery).
Eligibility Criteria:

Based at a UK university or research institute for the fellowship duration.

Higher research degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) in a cancer-relevant field.

Completed CCT and hold consultant status.

Significant postdoctoral research experience.

Meet “establishing independence” career stage competencies per CRUK’s Fellowships Competency Framework.

Must not hold a tenured academic post at an HEI or research institute.
Funding Details:

Amount: Up to £1.5 million (FEC) over 5 years

Use of Funds:
-
Fellow’s salary at honorary consultant grade
-
Salaries and running costs for up to two posts (postdoc, technician, or non-clinical PhD student)

Associated running expenses and equipment (≤ £25,000)

Relocation costs (≤ £1,000)

Optional EMBO Lab Leadership course for group-leadership training
