
DoD FY25 Melanoma Research Program Idea Award
Supports innovative, exploratory, high-risk/high-reward melanoma research that establishes proof of principle and generates preliminary data across prevention, rare subtypes, or survivorship focus areas.
Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations: Extramural and intramural U.S. or foreign academic institutions, biotechnology companies, foundations, DOD laboratories, and other public or private entities (for-profit and non-profit).

Principal Investigator: Must be at or above the level of Postdoctoral Fellow (or equivalent) by award activation; no citizenship restrictions.

Research Scope: Novel, hypothesis-driven or hypothesis-generating projects in at least one FY25 MRP focus area (Prevention & Interception; Rare Melanomas; Survivorship). Clinical trials are not permitted; observational clinical research allowed.

Cost Sharing: Not required.
Funding Details:

Total Cost Cap: 560,000 USD (direct + indirect)

Period of Performance: Up to 2 years; funds expire September 30, 2031; awards made by September 30, 2026.

Allowable Costs: Personnel; supplies; equipment; travel for multi-institutional collaborations and one scientific meeting per year. No clinical-trial costs.
