
Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme (DPFS)
This funding opportunity from the Medical Research Council (MRC) supports the development and early-phase testing of novel therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, and health interventions. The scheme is intended to progress projects along the developmental pipeline from early-stage research through to Phase 2a clinical studies.
Eligibility Criteria:

Only applicants who were invited after a successful Stage One DPFS application or panel-approved resubmission may apply

Must be based at an eligible UK research institution

International co-leads from high-income countries may apply, with cost limits
-
Project leads must actively direct and contribute to the proposed work
Funding Details:

Total fund available: 30,000,000 British Pounds.

No specific funding cap per project (must be justified and appropriate)

MRC funds up to 80% of the full economic cost
-
Covers salaries, equipment, consumables, travel, data sharing, and international co-lead costs (up to 30% for high-income country participants)

Funding for all developmental stages up to Phase 2a trials

Typical projects include 2 to 4 SMART milestones with clear go/no-go criteria
