
Foundation Against Cancer: Grants Cancer Prevention 2025
The Foundation Against Cancer (Belgium) has launched its 2025 Cancer Prevention Grants with a total budget of 2 million Euros to support projects that strengthen primary prevention and early detection of cancer. Funding is available for research projects and operational projects that promote the 12 recommendations of the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC).
Focus Areas
Projects must fall within one of the following domains:

Primary Prevention targeting:

Tobacco & second-hand smoke
-
Obesity & physical inactivity
-
Diet & alcohol
-
UV exposure
-
Occupational carcinogens
-
Radon exposure
-
Hormonal therapy
-
HPV & Hepatitis B infections
-
Environmental risk factors
-
Personal behavioral interventions
-
-
Secondary Prevention focusing on:

New or improved cancer screening methods
-
Implementation strategies for early detection

Eligibility Criteria
-
Project duration: 2 to 4 years
-
Funding amount: 100,000 to 400,000 Euros (max. 100,000€/year)
-
The Foundation must cover more than 50% of the project’s total cost
-
The lead applicant must hold a permanent position in a Belgian university, college, or research institute
-
Up to two co-applicants allowed; must be affiliated with a legal entity (not individuals or informal associations)
-
Only one submission per lead applicant (can be a co-applicant in one other project)
-
Out of scope: fundamental, translational, or clinical cancer research; commercial or for-profit projects

Personnel (PhD student: max 1 FTE/year; postdoc: max 0.5 FTE/year; technical staff: max 1 FTE/year)
