2025 Career Acceleration Fellowships

The 2025 Career Acceleration Fellowships from Prostate Cancer UK provide a unique opportunity for early-career postdoctoral researchers to establish their independence and accelerate their research careers. These fellowships offer up to 350,000 British Pounds in funding over 3 to 4 years to support high-impact prostate cancer research and build collaborative networks beyond the applicant’s home institution.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be in the final year of their PhD or have no more than 5 years of postdoctoral experience by October 1, 2025
Open to non-clinical researchers only
The host institution must be based in the UK
Projects must last 3 to 4 years and align with Prostate Cancer UK’s research strategy
Applicants must include a collaboration with another institution (UK or international); physical placements are encouraged
Primary and Partnering Mentors must be identified at time of application
Fellowships can be completed part-time at no less than 75% FTE

Funding Details

The fellowship provides up to 350,000 British Pounds, which can cover:

Salary of the Fellow
Support staff (e.g. lab technician)
Research consumables
Collaboration and travel costs
Conference attendance

Ineligible Applications

Proposals intended primarily to fund equipment
Applications from researchers based entirely outside the UK
Clinical early-career researchers
Proposals lacking a collaborative component
Commercial or industry applicants
Research projects outside the defined strategic remit

Public and Patient Involvement (PPI)

Prostate Cancer UK strongly encourages the involvement of patients and the public in the development, delivery, and dissemination of research. Applicants can request support from the Patient Representative Network.
