JSPS Postdoctoral Standard Fellowship

The JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship (Standard) offers international researchers a fully funded opportunity to carry out advanced scientific research in Japan. Scholars work under the guidance of leading Japanese researchers at top universities or research institutions.

Eligibility

Must be a citizen of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan
PhD obtained on or after April 2, 2020
Cannot be a permanent resident of Japan or hold Japanese nationality
Not open to previous recipients of this fellowship

Funding Details

Roundtrip airfare (economy class)
Monthly stipend: 362,000 Japanese Yen
One-time settling-in allowance: 200,000 Japanese Yen
Overseas travel insurance
Optional research support allowance through the host institution

Duration

12 to 24 months of continuous research residency in Japan

1st Recruitment: August 29, 2025
