
ERC Proof of Concept Grant
The ERC Proof of Concept Grant helps ERC grantees explore the commercial, societal, or innovation potential of ideas arising from their ERC-funded frontier research. It supports follow-up activities such as validating feasibility, developing business plans, testing technologies, and engaging with stakeholders. Only Principal Investigators (PIs) of ERC Starting, Consolidator, Advanced, or Synergy Grants are eligible.
Eligibility Criteria:

Must hold or have completed an ERC main grant (Starting, Consolidator, Advanced, or Synergy) after 1 January 2024

Proposal must directly build upon results from the ERC-funded project
-
Host Institution must be in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe-associated country
-
PI must be engaged with the Host Institution throughout the PoC project
-
PoC proposals may be submitted from a different Host Institution than the main ERC grant
-
All types of public and private institutions (including for-profit) are eligible to host
Funding Details:

Lump sum of 150,000 EUR for a maximum of 18 months

Supports activities not covered by the original ERC grant such as proof-of-concept studies, technical validation, IP strategy, stakeholder engagement

Normally expected to be completed in 12 months

Seal of Excellence awarded to high-quality but unfunded proposals

Rolling submissions with two cut-off dates annually
