The ERC Consolidator Grant supports scientists with 7–12 years of post-PhD experience who are ready to strengthen their independence and establish or consolidate a research team in Europe. Designed to foster scientific excellence, this highly competitive grant enables researchers to pursue ambitious, ground-breaking projects across any discipline.
Eligibility Criteria:
- 7–12 years since successful PhD defence
- Open to researchers of any nationality
- Must propose excellent science and demonstrate strong leadership potential
- Host institution must be located in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe-associated country
- Extensions to eligibility allowed for parental leave, national service, illness, or other qualifying events
- Principal Investigator (PI) must submit on behalf of a Host Institution, with commitment required if awarded
- Team members may be of any nationality, and may work in non-EU countries
Funding Details:
- Up to 2 million EUR for a maximum of 5 years
- Additional 1 million EUR available for:
- Relocation from a third country
- Major equipment or large-scale field work
- 100% of direct costs funded, plus 25% contribution toward indirect costs
Deadline:
- Call opens: Anticipated Q2–Q3 2025
