
Early Detection Award – AACR, Lustgarten Foundation, The Mark Foundation
This major funding initiative supports transformative projects aimed at the early detection and diagnosis of recalcitrant cancers. The goal is to enable detection of these lethal cancers at stages where interventions are more effective. Applications should propose innovative approaches and may span multiple disciplines.
Eligibility Criteria:

Open to independent faculty researchers at non-profit institutions globally

2 to 4 investigators per project (1 PI + up to 3 co-investigators)

Focus must be on at least one of the following cancers:

Pancreatic cancer
-
Hepatobiliary cancers (e.g., HCC, bile duct, gallbladder)
-
Ovarian cancer
-
Glioblastoma
-
Upper GI cancers (gastric, esophageal)

Cancers from hereditary predisposition syndromes

Projects must focus on early detection, not cancer prevention
-
No overlapping funding allowed
Funding Details:

USD 2 million total per award
-
Two-year project duration
-
Covers direct and indirect costs (indirect capped at 10% of direct)

Successful projects may be eligible for additional support
-
Grantees will present at future events hosted by AACR and partners
