Cancer Grand Challenge: Mechanisms Driving Mutational Signatures
This challenge aims to identify the underlying biological and chemical mechanisms responsible for unexplained mutational signatures in cancer genomes. Despite the discovery of over 96 distinct mutational signatures, many remain without known causes. Understanding the origin of these DNA alterations could reveal endogenous or environmental mutagens and pave the way for effective cancer prevention strategies.
