European School of Oncology’s Advanced Hands-On Course on Rectal Cancer Management

The European School of Oncology’s Advanced Hands-On Course on Rectal Cancer Management is an intensive, onsite educational event taking place from 27 to 28 November 2026 at Imperial College London, UK.
Chaired by Isacco Montroni (IT) and Albert Wolthuis (BE), alongside Co-Chair Riccardo A. Audisio (IT/SE), the program offers a comprehensive exploration of contemporary rectal cancer management.
Designed for up to 24 selected participants, the course focuses heavily on rectal cancer staging, MRI interpretation, multimodal treatment sequencing, and emerging paradigms like organ-preservation Watch-and-Wait protocols. By combining expert-led lectures and multidisciplinary case simulations with high-fidelity, hands-on surgical training using anatomical models, the curriculum provides clinicians with the necessary evidence-based strategies to optimize local MDT workflows, refine advanced TME and taTME surgical techniques, and improve patient quality-of-life outcomes.
